How do I send money online to India?

To make an online money transfer to India, just follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your Western Union® profile or register and verify one for free. Begin your money transfer to India by clicking ‘Send now’.
  2. Type in ‘India’ as the destination and how much you wish to send. You’ll be able to view typical transfer times as you make your selections.
  3. Click on ‘Bank account’. You’ll then have the choice of selecting an existing receiver or entering bank account details3 for a new one.
  4. Pay for your money transfer by credit2 or debit card.
  5. Look out for a confirmation email containing a tracking number (MTCN). This can then be shared with your receiver in India to help track the money.
What do I need to send money online to India?

You’ll need a US driver’s license, passport or government-issued ID to register online with Western Union®. When sending money to India, your receiver’s account number, IFSC code and the purpose of the transfer are required. We might also ask for additional information about your source of funds and occupation, depending on the amount of money you would like to send, when making a ‘large amount’ money transfer.

How do I send money to India from a Western Union® agent location?

To transfer money to India from a US agent location, simply:

  1. Search for an agent location close to your home.
  2. Take a valid government-issued ID or phone number to the counter. You’ll also need to show your receiver’s bank and account details.
  3. Use cash or a US bank-issued debit card to pay for your remit to India.
  4. Read the tracking number (MTCN) on your receipt, which can be shared with your receiver to follow their money.
How do I send money from the US to ICICI Bank in India?

Transferring money to an Indian ICICI bank account is quick and easy. Simply follow these steps:

  1. Log in or register and verify a free Western Union® profile. Click ‘Send now’ to begin your money transfer to India.
  2. View the dollar to rupee exchange rate (USD to INR), then enter the amount you wish to send.
  3. Choose how you want to pay for the money transfer.
