How do I know if my online transfer has been approved?

Your online receipt will show if your transfer has been approved or not. You’ll get an email with your money tracking control number (MTCN) when the transfer is complete.

If your transfer takes time for approval and has been put on hold, we’ll inform you via email or SMS. We may also contact you for more information.

If your transfer has been rejected, you can contact our Western Union Customer Care. Alternatively, you can email wu.support@globalmoneyexchange.net

How do I send money online?

You can send money online to a Western Union location for a cash pickup, directly into your receiver’s bank account, or to your receiver’s mobile phone. After you’ve chosen your destination country, you’ll see the types of services available.

Will my credit card charge a fee for sending money?

Some card issuers may charge additional fees for using Western Union services. You can contact your card issuer for more information.

Can I send money directly to a bank account?

Yes, you can send money directly to your receiver’s bank account. Just choose Bank account under Receive by while sending money.

How can I send money with Western Union?

You can send money with us in any of the following ways:

Online or start online and finish in-store

  • Log in to your profile.
  • Choose your receiver’s country and select Continue.
  • Enter the send amount or the received amount and select Check fees.
  • Then choose any of the following send and receive methods1:
                You pay by:
    • Credit or debit card
    • Bank account
    • Cash in-store
               Receive by:
    • Cash pick up
    • Bank account2
    • Mobile wallet2
    • Credit or debit card2
  • Select Save and Continue to receiver.
  • Enter your receiver’s details.
  • Then select Continue to review and finally Send.  
After you complete the transfer, you can track it with the tracking number (MTCN) on your receipt.
 
  1. You can try a combination of different send or receive amounts and methods to get the best possible exchange rate, transfer fee, and delivery time.
  2. The receive method is applicable to select receiving countries.
  • Visit any of our agent locations with your government-issued ID.
  • Pay with cash or with debit card.
After you complete the transfer, you can track it with the tracking number (MTCN) on your receipt. 

How much money can I send from an agent location in Canada?

You can usually send any amount from an agent location. However, for larger sums you may be asked to provide additional information.

How many Alipay wallet transfers can I make in a month?

You can make up to 5 transfers to the same receiver on Alipay wallet within a 30-day period starting from the date of the first transfer. If it’s urgent, you can always choose a different payout method such as bank account or cash.

How much money can I send online from Canada?

The maximum amount you can send online, depends upon the payment method you choose.

Can I send money to a mobile wallet?

Yes, you can send money directly to a mobile wallet from one of our partners in countries where this service is available. All you need to do is choose Mobile wallet under Receive by while sending money.

How do I change my password?

To change your password, please do the following:
  1. Log in and go to the Profile Profileat the top right.
  2. Select Update your password.
  3. Enter your current password, and then enter your new password.
  4. Select Save new password.
You can also change your password using the Forgot password link. You just need to do the following:
  1. Select Log in and then select Forgot password.
  2. Enter your registered email address and select Send me the reset link.
  3. Select the reset link on your email. You may also need to answer the test questions you had set while creating your profile.
  4. Enter your new password and select Reset my password.
Note: Your password must contain 8-16 characters, one number, one UPPERCASE, one lowercase. Please do not to include your name or email address in your new password.

What if I forget my password?

To log in to your profile again, you’ll need to reset your password.
You can also call Customer Care and provide your profile information. You’ll then receive a reset password link on your registered email address.

What is Verified by Visa® and MasterCard SecureCode®?

Verified by Visa® and MasterCard SecureCode® help prevent unauthorised online use of cards. These services use personal passwords or identity information and are available for most cards from participating financial institutions.

Once your card is activated, your card number will be recognised whenever it’s used at participating online stores. A window will automatically appear, and your card issuer will ask for your password. You’ll enter your password to verify your identity and complete your purchase.

Even if you haven’t activated Verified by Visa® or MasterCard SecureCode,® your card can still be used on our site.

How long does it take to send money online?

Here are a few ways you can send money online using Western Union:

  • Money in minutes:

If your money is needed within minutes, you can send online using your credit or debit card. Receivers can pick up cash at Western Union locations worldwide, depending on the hours of operation at that location and other applicable Restrictions. See Terms and Conditions for details.

If your receiver lives in a country where we offer mobile money transfer, you can send money to their mobile phone in a matter of minutes. Make sure your receiver has activated a mobile wallet with one of our partner mobile operators in their country.

  • Money available within 3 banking days:

Direct to back money transfers will generally be credited at the receiver’s Bank account within 3 banking business days after money is sent, subject to Restrictions. See Terms and Conditions for details.

Can I change the name on a money transfer?

You can only make minor typographical corrections to the receiver’s name on a regular money transfer as long as the money hasn’t yet been picked up. This can’t be done on a money order, or bill payment

How do I send money to a mobile phone?

If your receiver lives in a country where we offer this service, you can even send money to their mobile phone—so they can get their money quicker and easier than ever. Make sure your receiver has activated a mobile wallet with one of our partner mobile operators in their country.

How do I send money to India with UPI?

About UPI

Unified Payment Interface (UPI) is a payment method that allows you to transfer money to a bank account in India instantly. Western Union is the first money transfer service company to use UPI for international transfers.

Understanding the UPI ID

A UPI ID is a virtual payment address (VPA) and a unique identifier. It works the same way your name or email address does. A UPI ID is formatted like an email address: receiver’s_name@bank_name or phone_number@bank_name.

When sending through this method, all you need is your receiver’s UPI ID. You don’t need to enter your receiver’s bank name, account number, account type, or IFSC code. Just be sure the receiving bank is linked to your receiver’s UPI ID.

How much can I send with UPI transfers?

Currently, you can send up to 200, 000 INR per transfer.

Steps to send money with UPI to India

To make a UPI transfer, please do the following:

  1. Log in to your Western Union profile.
  2. Choose India as your receiving country.
  3. Choose Bank account under Receive by. You can choose Credit or debit card or Bank account under Pay by.
  4. Choose UPI ID under the bank information section to see the list of banks enabled for international UPI transfers.
  5. Select Send. Your transfer should be completed in minutes.

For your safety, make sure you know your receiver. After your transfer has been completed, you may not be eligible for a refund.

Test

?When can my receiver have the money?

Depending upon the transfer method, transfer amount, and send and receive countries, it takes anywhere between a few minutes to 4 business days for the money to reach your receiver. To learn more, please go to Terms and Conditions

What about exchange rates and transfer fees?

Exchange Rates

When you send money internationally, your receiver will get it in local currency. You can calculate the actual transfer amount based on the exchange rate applicable at the time of sending the money. However, for some countries, the actual transfer amount depends on the exchange rate applicable at the time of receiving.  

Transfer Fees

Transfer fees, foreign exchange rates, and taxes may vary depending on the brand, channel, and location for various reasons. You must compare transfer fees and exchange rates at the time of sending money. The transfer fees and exchange rates are subject to change without prior notice.

How do I send money to a bank account?

This service is available for certain countries. Direct to back money transfers will generally be credited at the receiver’s Bank account within 3 banking business days after money is sent, subject to Restrictions. See Terms and Conditions for details.

After you send money, ask your receiver to contact their bank or check their bank statement to verify the deposit.
